the ART, a Hotel’s Guide to Denver Craft Beer

In case you haven’t heard, Denver has one of the best craft-beer scenes in the world — it has been described as “the Napa Valley of Beer” by numerous publications and has helped Colorado land more than 25 medals at the World Beer Cup Awards. Narrow down the 150-odd options by checking out our guide to some of the best breweries around the ART, a Hotel and the Lower Downtown neighborhood (LoDo).

Rock Bottom Brewery

The Denver Rock Bottom location prides itself on stouts, porters, and IPAs that have never been exposed — like mass-produced alternatives — to light, heat, or oxygen. The beers can be experienced in the brewery itself or the adjacent American restaurant.

Wynkoop Brewing Company

Wynkoop counts ales, lagers, and stouts among its more than 40 styles of beer, many featuring unconventional ingredients (clove, banana, serrano peppers). Complimentary public tours of the historic mercantile building are offered on a daily basis.

Prost Brewing Co. & Biergarten

Prost’s brews include two Vienna lagers, a pilsner, an IPL (India Pale Lager), a Kolsch, and a kombucha, all prepared from German-sourced ingredients. They’re on tap at the sleek 19th Street brewpub and beer garden, open daily.

Blue Moon Brewing Co.

Sandlot Brewery has been a local favorite since 1995, when it created its signature Belgian-Style Wheat Ale at Coors Field. Today you can pair the now twenty-plus brews with hearty pub fare at the Chestnut Street brewhouse.

Great Divide Brewing Co.

Great Divide Brewing Co. was founded in 1994, when the Denver beer scene was just getting started. The Tap Room is located in the heart of downtown, and it’s here that you’ll be able to take a tour of the brewhouse. The company also opened its Barrel Bar in River North.

Denver Beer Co.

Inspired by the famous beer gardens of Bavaria, Denver Beer Co. is a great place to share a tasty pint or two with friends, family, and everyone in between. Head to the Taproom, on Platte Street, for a sunny beer-garden atmosphere and a rotating list of the brewery’s popular craft beer.

Ratio Beerworks

Ratio Beerworks learned the craft in Germany and now brings the fine art of microbrewing to Denver. Located near the River North Art District, this hop haven boasts more than just beer — the space is infused with music and art, and hosts events and programs from time to time.
